Recently, I was questioned by a close friend of mine what the most romantic thing to do on getaway in Sharm. He was intending to ask his girlfriend to marry him on an upcoming holiday break and not surprisingly wanted to pick the best setting.
I had to give this a bit of thought to this as although I head out to Egypt often, is practically always to go diving or chill out on the beach which even though it is a splendid way to spend a holiday, it was not really what he was searching for.
I tried to bring to mind the nicest locations to dine and relax with the best views but yet nothing really came to mind as special. I began to take into consideration the various experiences that were on offer to holiday makers. There are a number of day trip options at hand including trips by plane to Cairo, Luxor and the Lost City of Petra in Jordan. There is the opportunity to take a visit from Sharm el Sheikh to Jerusalem.
However, these excursions are many hours long and are often tiring and I set about thinking of activities a little closer to Sharm el Sheikh. You'll find numerous probable choices for an enchanting location such as a Bedouin dinner under the heavens but the longer I thought about it, there was no more than one real possibility. The trip to Mount Sinai and St Catherine's Monastery departs Sharm just before sunrise. After a couple of hours, you get to Mount Sinai in the midst of the desert and set out to ascend the mountain. Looking out from your vantage point, you wait in expectation of the Sinai sunrise.
The desert in this part of Egypt is outstanding with a combination of sand and vivid mountains. As the sun appears and begins to ascend in the skies, you start to feel its warm rays and the shadows retreat all across the conforms of the adjacent mountains. It really is an awesome and spellbinding moment. The trip to Mount Sinai is one of the daily tours from Sharm and is well worth waking up early for. |
